In the Zone of Ablation

In the Zone of Ablation

"In the Zone of Ablation" is an installation piece I created to compare and contrast differing opinions about Global Warming in the United States in late 2005. The work consists of a slab of ice suspended by three bolts over a water collection system below. On the melting ice is projected an image of a SUV that drives across the slab of ice at a high rate of speed.

To contrast the melting of ice I used audio of University of Alabama Climatologist John Christy describing global warming effects as being minimal. (special thanks to John Christy for his direction)

Overall I am happy with how the piece turned out. I hope to rebuild the work on a larger scale for display in a future show.
